Rolling Red Sox shoot for another win in Baltimore

Baseball Betting Lines

08/20/2008 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Boston Red Sox try for their fourth straight road win this evening, when they attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

Boston continued to thrive without Manny Ramirez on Tuesday, as Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run homer and Daisuke Matsuzaka remained perfect on the road to help the Red Sox to a 7-2 win.

Matsuzaka (15-2) pitched five innings and allowed two runs on six hits to improve his 2008 road record to 7-0 (10 starts). Jason Varitek homered and ended with two RBI for the Red Sox, who have won six of their last eight games overall.

Boston, which has won 12 of 17 since Ramirez was dealt to the Dodgers on July 31, still trails Tampa Bay by 4 1/2 games for first place in the American League East, but holds a 1 1/2-game edge on the Minnesota Twins in the wild- card race.

Ramon Hernandez and Luke Scott both drove in a run for Baltimore, which has dropped three of four. Daniel Cabrera (8-8) suffered the loss after he surrendered six runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.

As if things were not bad enough for Baltimore, the placed closer George Sherrill on the 15-day disabled list prior to the game with left shoulder inflammation.

Boston will turn to young right-hander Clay Buchholz, who hasn't won since May 2 and is a miserable 2-8 with a 6.35 earned run average on the season. Buchholz hasn't started since August 10, when he was lit up in three innings by the Chicago White Sox, who managed five runs and seven hits off of the 24- year-old hurler.

Buchholz no-hit the Orioles last season in just the second start of his big league career. He also lost to them on July 11 and is 2-1 against Baltimore with a 2.12 ERA in three games (2 starts).

Baltimore will turn to left-handed rookie Chris Waters, who will be making just the fourth start of his career. After tossing eight scoreless innings of one-hit ball in his debut, Waters has recorded back-to-back no-decisions.

On Friday against the Detroit Tigers, Waters did not factor in the decision of his team's 11-2 win. He allowed a pair of runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Boston, which has won eight of its last 12 at Camden Yards, has taken nine of its 14 matchups with the Orioles this season.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.

(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977.  Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.

Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer.  In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.

MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season.  Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.  After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.

Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions.  They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals.  The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
